MROC recently announced to its Membership a proposal to wind down the organization. The Membership will vote on this proposal at MROC’s Annual General and Special Meeting on May 7th. The proposal is being made in light of broad changes in the Canadian industry, and MROC’s historical context and position in the industry, all of which combined have resulted in declining revenues in recent years for MROC’s members. If the wind down proceeds as expected (which is not yet a certainty) MROC is making plans to transfer its mandates and repertoire to another collective in the industry, ARTISTI, to minimize any impact on performers’ representation and royalties.
